Trauma-Informed Care and Practice • Moral Distress and Injury • Burnout • Health & Wellness • Narrative Medicine • Implicit Bias • Suicide Prevention • Peer Support • Self-Care • Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (JEDI)
TIPPS©
Trauma-Informed Peer-to-Peer Surveillance (TIPPS) is a workplace intervention in which individuals trained in trauma-informed care principles provide confidential support to colleagues experiencing personal or work-related distress.
Employee volunteers from various specialties and levels of care are screened to become peer supporters and attend four hours of web-based training and five hours of in-person training.
Topics include trauma-informed principles, mental health disorders, burnout and moral distress/injury, suicide prevention and assessment, interpersonal support skills, ethics, and confidentiality.
Peer supporters receive ongoing education and mentorship from a qualified mental health professional to ensure competence, skill development, and supervisory support.
Sounding the Alarm©
The "Sounding the Alarm" curriculum is designed to provide evidence-based behavioral health education and treatment for firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. The primary goal of this program is to enhance the knowledge of these first responders in areas such as suicide prevention, developmental and event trauma, and self-care practices.
By shifting the focus from a "suck it up" mentality to a trauma-informed approach, the curriculum aims to help individuals recognize and address unhealthy trauma responses and symptoms promptly. Moreover, it encourages first responders to seek assistance when needed to effectively recover from both event-related and developmental traumas.
This comprehensive program equips participants with the necessary tools and strategies to prioritize their mental well-being and promote overall resilience in the face of challenging situations.
Sounding the Alarm has four modules: Trauma, Suicide, Peer Support, and Self-Care
